Why We Use Sunflower Oil As Our 2nd Choice!

Why We Use Sunflower Oil As Our 2nd Choice!

First thing our family chooses is Coconut Oil. You can read here our article: The Benefits of Coconut Oil. We use it for almost everything, not only in our baking, but also for our cooking at home, and it is even great for the skin and so much more!!

One of our second choices is Sunflower Oil and here’s why our family chooses it: Sunflower Oil has little taste and a good smoke point as well as heat tolerance. It can safely be baked without destroying its properties. We use it for the Best Challah, Beautiful Buns, Cinnamon Rolls, Dinner Rolls, and Classic Pretzel Rolls.

YES There’s Good Sunflower Oil!

We use only the best, which is High Oleic Expeller Pressed Sunflower Oil. More Good Fats, No Trans Fats, and also No Chemicals Used to Extract Our Oil. Here’s The Facts:

Why High Oleic?

High oleic oils are considered the healthiest and have the most monosaturated fat as well as not containing trans-fat. There are three different grades of sunflower oil: High Oleic Sunflower Oil, Mid-Oleic, and Linoleic. High oleic oils are considered the healthiest and have the most monosaturated fat. Linoleic is comprised of more polyunsaturated fats (considered a less healthy fat) and mid oleic falls somewhere in between. Our High Oleic Sunflower Oil does not contain trans fats and is in the natural liquid form. Trans fat is created through partial hydrogenation, which is horrible for you! (We stay completely away from all hydrogenated oils!)

High Oleic Sunflower Oil has higher monounsaturated fat levels than olive oil — and olive oil is known for containing this healthy fat! Some studies have shown for patients who consumed a diet high in monounsaturated fat, HDL (good) cholesterol did not change. Monounsaturated fat increased the effectiveness of a cholesterol-lowering diet, despite statin-like reductions in LDL (bad) cholesterol. The potential benefits to lower cardiovascular risk were achieved through increases in HDL (good) cholesterol and further reductions in the ratio of total to HDL (good) cholesterol. Substitution of foods rich in saturated fat with foods rich in high-oleic-acid oil has favorable outcomes on blood lipids and factor VIIc. This oil presents another useful source of MUFA for diets aimed at prevention of heart disease!

Why Only Expeller Pressed?

Sunflower oils can be solvent expelled, or expeller pressed — which is how the oil is extracted. Expeller pressed oils physically squeeze the oil out and do not use chemicals to extract it. That is why we use it in our bakery! The other kind of oil which is Solvent expelled oils uses a chemical like hexane to pull the oil out and most linoleic or classic sunflower oils use this. Those buying this oil are concerned more about a lower cost and not their health. We are 100% about YOUR health, because YOU matter to us, and we ONLY use what our family has used for years!
